Sharpening and reusing razor blades

I’ve always wanted to use a disposable razor that I could sharpen on my own. I usually find that the lifespan of a disposable razor is really short. I found this video and I’ll try the method for 12 weeks and see if it really works: http://youtu.be/5ADaRIqy0Dc

This is my initial set up, with a few tweaks of my own:

  1. Remove the dry shaving balm strip. It deceives the senses when it comes to blade performance because the blides slide better with the balm. I want to keep the experience as consistent as possible, so I removed the balm with a tiny screwdriver
  2. Keep the blade in olive oil. This prevents the blade from rusting and if any hairs are trapped in the blades, it will come off
  3. Do 50 sharpening strokes before and after using the disposable razor, as per the original video

Next steps: Get a new blade, prepare it and start apllying the method
